Ortho-K Contact Lenses
Wouldn’t it be great if your vision could be corrected while you sleep?
Our Ortho-K program uses custom made contact lenses to gently reshape the cornea during sleep to correct the vision. In the morning, the lenses are removed and you can enjoy clear vision all day long without glasses or contacts! Like dental braces, retainer lenses are worn every night to maintain the results.
Our Ortho-K program is an alternative to glasses, regular contact lenses, or laser surgery. How does it work?
It works by reshaping your cornea (the front part of the eye) in a similar way that laser vision correction does. The difference is that Ortho-K is non-surgical and non-invasive. There is no cutting or vapourizing, it is reversible, and does not require medications. Ortho-K has been in practice since the 1950’s (about 30 years longer than Laser vision correction).
One of the greatest benefits of Ortho-K is that it can stabilize the prescription, so it will not get worse for the duration of the program. In fact, many parents choose to have their children treated because Ortho- K can stabilize their child’s prescription. It is especially beneficial for school-aged children who often experience large increases in nearsightedness every year. Worldwide, many parents have chosen for their children to have Ortho-K because the progression of their nearsightedness has been reduced or eliminated.
